At H. H. Brown, we’re passionate about developing ideas that make our products more valuable to the marketplace. We understand the importance of new technologies to the growth of our business. We focus on patentable product differentiations that demonstrate recognizable advantages. As a case in point, our continually honed bowling shoe technology has helped make Dexter the number one bowling shoe in the world.
From a soil additive that maximizes plant growth and minimizes watering costs to warmer and drier feet in cold, wet woods to flawless make-up application, we continuously strive to create new standards for the industries we serve.
H. H. Brown Patented Technologies
Hydrophilic Urethane Technology
DRYZ® Moisture Management System:
Americans complain more about having sweaty, smelly feet than any other foot condition. An increase in body temperature generates an increase in perspiration from the quarter-million sweat glands in each foot. Trapping that perspiration in socks and shoes sets up the perfect environment for the growth of bacteria on the skin. The longer the bacteria are allowed to grow, the more odiferous the feet become.
H. H. Brown has developed and patented DRYZ®, DRYZ® Quantum Transport System® and DRYZ® Intellitemp®, heat and moisture transpiration technologies that, when placed in the footbed and lining of a shoe, wick moisture away from the foot into a gel-like substance from which it evaporates. DRYZ products effectively prevent the development of conditions that promote bacterial growth. The absence of bacterial growth results in the absence of foot odor.
Sports Technology
Interchangeable Soles and Heels for Bowling Shoes:
As the leader in the bowling shoe industry, we are proud to be deeply involved in the advancement of the sport of bowling. In order to provide the best possible shoes for bowlers at all skill levels, we continuously solicit feedback from the global bowling community. The information and suggestions we receive from our customers and our Dexter Pro staff members are translated into innovations and improvements in our bowling shoe design and construction. Dexter was first to develop the interchangeability of sliding soles and braking heels for bowling shoes to accommodate varying approach conditions. Innovations such as sole and heel interchangeability have moved the sport of bowling forward in the world.
Dexter Bowling shoes are the number one bowling shoes in the world. We set and then exceed every standard as we strive continually to enrich the sport of bowling through vision and innovation.
Pivit™ Golf Shoe Technology
Strategically located under the ball of the foot, the Dexter Pivit Spike addresses the significance of pivoting during a golfer’s follow through while also maintaining superior traction. Our systematic balance of traction science and pivoting potential helps a golfer release accurately on his or her back foot, providing assistance in executing the ideal swing technique.
Comfort Technology
Gel-Cell™ Heel Insert
On an average day, each of your heels strikes the ground about 4,000 times. Without heel cushioning in your shoes, you might as well be walking barefoot. H. H. Brown’s patented Gel-Cell™ heel insert is a non-memory polymer gel pad that adds comfort by dissipating shock and providing rebound. In several job-specific work boots, we add Gel-Cell to the midsole to provide additional comfort and protection.
Energy Core Construction
Energy Core is the first and only system where the outsole and footbed work together as a single unit. A uniquely visible polyurethane core "plugs" into the outsole as the heel and provides the ultimate in cushioning. An anatomically designed footbed mimics the natural shape of the foot and a leather lining and sock allow for breathability, all of which guarantees comfort. There’s a tempered steel shank in the insole for superior support and a moisture management system in the footbed to keep feet dry and comfortable.
